Beach Boys Start Work on ‘Wouldn’t It Be Nice’.

On This Day in 1966, American rock band ‘The Beach Boys’ would go into the studio to lay-down one of their most influential hits, ‘Wouldn’t It Be Nice’.

The iconic track would form part of their most notable album ‘Pet Sounds’, which would be released later the same year.

‘Pet Sounds’ was a slight change in direction for the band, as their well-documented experimentation with psychotropic drugs would begin to influence their sound, previously more centralised around surfing.

Despite only peaking at Number 2 in the UK album charts, ‘Pet Sounds’ was universally applauded by critics and was named 2nd place by Rolling Stone magazine in their ‘500 greatest albums of all time’ list.
