Steven Spielberg won a Golden Globe for ‘Schindler’s List’ in 1994.

January 22nd 1994 – The date of the 51st Golden Globe awards at which some significant trophies were handed out.

Best Film (Drama) in 1994 was awarded to ‘Schindler’s List’, with Steve Spielberg picking up the Best Director’s gong. Star of the film, Liam Neeson would lose out in the Best Actor’s category to Tom Hanks for ‘Philadelphia’, also seeing off Anthony Hopkins, Harrison Ford and Daniel Day-Lewis.

Similarly, in the comedy section, Robin Williams would pick up the Best Actor (Comedy) award for his turn in the cross-dressing comedy ‘Mrs. Doubtfire’ which also won Best Film.

Holly Hunter picked up the drama version of the Best Actress award, with Angela Bassett picking up the comedy one for ‘What’s Love Got To Do With It’.
